The Sheriff's Office Administration is located at the same location as the Jail. These offices include the Sheriff, Chief Deputy, Law Enforcement Division Commander, Investigations Division, Sex Offender Registry, Training Division, Evidence Custodian, Matron and Administration Assistants.

For Public Records Request go to NextRequest and complete the information as needed. 

Examples of information and services through our offices include:

• Sheriff Sale information can be found by clicking on that page to the left, or picked up at the office.
• Gun permit information. 
• Tax Warrants -- We process payments for Dept of Revenue issued tax warrants.
• Processing of Civil Papers for service.
• Verify active Indiana warrants by visiting www.mycase.in.gov
• Back ground checks are done thru the jail. Must present valid i.d. Available anytime come through the Jail Visitor's entrance and pick up information phone.
  Note: These are local (Hancock County) background checks only.
• Accidents reports can be obtained:

  • downloaded from www.buycrash.com for $12.00.
  • picked up at our office for $8.00
• Case reports for any incident that our department responded to can be obtained 
  • at Nextrequest.com for $5.00 
  • picked up at our office for $5.00.

If you choose to pick up any reports at our office, please call ahead 317.477.1147 so that we can locate the report you need and have it ready upon your arrival. 

All payments must be CASH, MONEY ORDER, or CASHIER'S CHECK.  NO personal checks, debit or credit cards.
