Members of the Hancock County Parks & Recreation Board, County Highway Department, Town of Shirley, Shirley Community Visionaries & the Jan Ross Reeves Octagon House accepted a $50,000 IGNITE Grant from the Community Foundation of Hancock County to support development of a multi-use trail & art project extending the City Park trail & connecting the Town of Shirley with surrounding communities. This collaborative project will strengthen community connections, celebrate creativity & expand recreation & tourism throughout the Town of Shirley. The trail will showcase the historic Jan Ross Reeves Octagon House as a cultural & heritage landmark, linking Shirley’s City Park from the Henry County side & crossing the Octagon House’s scenic front lawn. Hancock County Parks & Recreation extends appreciation to the Community Foundation of Hancock County & all partners who share the vision of a more connected & vibrant future.
