S.R. 9 to close north of I-70 for intersection improvement project in Hancock County

HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. – On or after Monday, May 12, the intersection of State Road 9 and County Road 400 N. will close for up to 30 days for an intersection improvement project in Hancock County.

During the closure, INDOT contractor E&B Paving will install new drainage infrastructure and construct turn lanes. The project aims to improve safety at this location by providing dedicated lanes for drivers to turn. The official detour will follow S.R. 234, S.R. 109, and U.S. 40.

In addition, final paving will occur under flagging on S.R. 9 at C.R. 300 N., and between S.R. 234 and I-70 following the completion of work at C.R. 400 N.

Motorists are reminded to slow down, use extra caution, and drive distraction-free in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
